Lower Secondary : Grade 5-7

Our program builds on the abilities learned in Unit B as the learners progress to Unit C, and our encouraging mentors support them as they transition from childhood to adolescent. Their reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities continue to improve as a result of the extensive CDC’s curriculum and theme/project based hands on learning. Learning becomes relevant and authentic through discussions, presentations, exhibitions, field visits, role plays and dramas. The curriculum offers learners the chance to succeed both within and beyond the classroom by being engaging, thorough and properly challenging for them. The well designed assignments help students to develop autonomous study habits and time management skills, simultaneously reinforcing concepts and methods covered in class. The core subjects are taught by skilled and well experienced mentors. Other subjects too are facilitated by similarly efficient mentors and facilitators.

At KPKS, equal importance is given to learner’s socio-emotional development and mental health. To meet the socio-emotional needs of adolescent learners an in house counselor is appointed by the school. Regular counseling to needy students as well as to parents are offered within the school premises which enables to maintain a harmonious mental well being of all.  The end of term progress report provided by the school documents learner’s academics, co-curricular activities, as well as socio-emotional development and soft skills. The growth of each learner is regularly tracked and assessed by the respective mentors.

Our Activities (CCAs & ECAs)

  1. Languages – ( German, Chinese, Sanskrit)
  2. STEAM– ( Robotics, 3Di, Karkhana )
  3. Miscellaneous – Abacus, Handwriting
  4. ECA – Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Sports
  5. Major Events – Parents Day, Sports Day, Imitation Speech/Interhouse Quiz/Debate/Spelling/Poem competitions

Secondary : Grade 8-10

At Pragya Kunja, the Secondary Levels include grades 8, 9 & 10. Through a diverse range of programmatic offerings, our Secondary Level programmes hold the aim of instilling a healthy balance of academic, social, and emotional development as well as various vocational skills for life.

Our academic programmes are built around the school’s vision, mission & core values to graduate self-aware, empathetic, lifelong learners, who display true appreciation for diversity, their individual role & duty in society, and their unique skills and ability to bring about positive change and development in society. To cater the 21st century education skills, our academic departments work collaboratively to integrate the curriculum across disciplines. Many units of study include cross curriculum lessons and / or culminating projects. All the faculty members/ teachers/ mentors meet once a week to discuss curriculum and individual students with reference to their academic, social, and emotional development.

Differentiated Instruction for no child left disengaged – we believe all children are capable of learning everything provided that they are groomed in a favourable environment. The student learning is differentiated through tiered syllabi and individualized attention within the classroom. Two periods per week, CCA & ECA classes are also devoted to reinforcing skills and concepts of Music, Design Thinking, Sports and Arts & Drama. In addition to CCA & ECA classes, students have other opportunities to connect with their peers and teachers through advisories, community service and activity periods and also leadership development, wellness, self-advocacy. Technology is also important to Pragya Kunja students.

Pragya Kunja’s intentionally different approach to education is most evident through manyfold hands-on activities carried out in classrooms and outside where students learn things first hand and real-time. Among many such approaches is the Student Led Conference (SLC) programme. At SLC, instead of teachers and their mentors, students themselves communicate and share information & reports about their own learning; they lead the discussion and present results and portfolio to their own parents/ guardians.
